San Diego Union-Tribune — OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Thousands of runners will start Thanksgiving Day sprinting or strolling through downtown streets at the region’s eighth annual Pacific Marine Credit Union O’side Turkey Trot.
The popular event benefits local schools and charities and gives participants a chance to burn calories on a day traditionally dedicated to packing them in.
Those set to join in this year’s festivities include Assemblyman Rocky Chavez, R-Oceanside; Brig. Gen. John W. Bullard Jr., commander of Camp Pendleton; and retired Brig. Gen. David Brahms.
Bullard will also serve an honorary starter for a wave of the 5K run-walk. Before he was commander of Camp Pendleton, Bullard was deputy commander of Regional Command North for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
